Better care through better information
How to improve medical care for diabetespatients traveling between the Netherlands and Turkey? The question turned out to be mainly an issue of better exchange of medical information between treating physicians in Turkeyand the Netherlands because their strategies in diagnostics and treatment were basicly the same.
To achieve better exchange of information about diabetespatients between doctors in Turkey and the Netherands a concept was developed to use patients as the carriers of their own medical information. When a diabetespatient from the Netherlands should need medical assistance in Turkey information on the diabetes status is important.  Therefore a medical passport was developed and translated into Turkish. To bring the project further the Turkish Diabetes society was contacted to provide adresses of Turkish physicians specialised in diabetes care.
